Slovakia is a wonderful place that used to be part of the communist nation Czezhoslovakia. They split into Slovakia and Czech Republic and had a very peaceful split with no wars. In 1939 Slovakia declared it's independence and then joined Germany during World War 2. Years before that Slovakia was setteled by the Sloic people in 833 A.D. Today Slovakia is placed 111 on the world scale for academic expedentures. Slovakia's capitol is Bratislava and the official language is Slovak. Most Slovakians are Roman Catholic (69%) and 99.6% of the countries population of 5,463,046 people can read. Soccer and Ice Hockey are two of the countries favorite sports. Slovakians were also called the Slavs. Slovakia's territory streches out for a wopping 18,859 square miles. The highest peak in the country reaches 8,707 feet and was named Garlach.
2. Year of Admission to E.U. History and General Information about the E.U.
A plan for a united Europe was put into plan by a frenchman named Jean Monnent, Slovakia was admitted to the E.U. on May 1st, 2004. In Europe, 27 countries are in the E.U. and Slovakia is one of the 27. E.U. stands for European Union, also, the European Union has a legel foundation of a series of treaties (or laws), which are passed to the countries so they can apply them. Also, more than 130 countries across the world maintain diplomatic relations with the E.U. so they can trade with countries, go to different countries in the E.U. etc. The E.U has also created polocies in foreign trade, agriculture, fisheries, transportation, and fiscal monetary activities.
3. How does the E.U. and your country feel about global temperatures/climate change? (environmental issue)
The European Union belives that global does exist. They are donating 5-7 billio euros a tear from 2010-2012 to projects that will slow or end global warming. The E.U is the worlds bigest donor to global warming related projects. The E.U. joined a project that stops global warming called Kyoto. Slovakia wants to put an end to gloobal warming because 140,000 Slovakian people got cancer from living to close to a power plant. If the Earth continues to heat power plants could overheat causing nuclear energy to escape and kill more Slovakian people.

The E.U. is commited to making a safe, secure, stable, free, prospures, and democratic Afghanistan. Afghanistan and the E.U. formed a joint declaration.The European councill reiteraites the E.U.'s desision to promote stability and development in Afghanistan. Slovakia has pleged 250 extra troops to a NATO force in Afghanistan. Slovakia is supporting NATO which is involved in the war in Afghanistan. The international force in Afghanistan is 100,000 strong. Europe has pleged an extra 5,000 troops for the war in Afghanistan.

Slovakia adopted the Euro as it's currency on January 1st, 2009. Like Slovakia, most new E.U. members are from the Eastern Europe, and most of Eastern Europe, like Slovakia, need money to make their economy better. The E.U. promotes the economic advancement for poorer countries. The Commission publishes forecasts for the E.U. and the member states twice a year in the Spring and Autumn. These forecasts are produced by The Directorate-General for economic and Financial Affairs and includes a chapter on Slovakia.
